CJT Home Betterment Grant

A way to pay it forward — helping qualifying new homeowners turn the space they have into the space they dream of.

In memory · In service

Honoring Christopher John Tenaglia’s Legacy.

CJT’s legacy lives in the things he made and the people he cared for. Rooted in family and craftsmanship, he found joy in working with his hands — from painting and woodworking to cooking, baking, and creating handmade gifts for loved ones. His humor and everyday gestures of kindness brought warmth to the lives around him.

That spirit is the reason High Pace Construction founded the CJT Home Betterment Grant. We wanted to honor CJT not only in name, but through something meaningful and lasting: putting our skills and relationships to work for others. The grant carries forward that spirit of care expressed through action, turning a tribute into an opportunity to make a difference.

For a new homeowner, imagining what a home could become is often easier than finding the means to make it happen. A more functional kitchen, a comfortable gathering space, or a thoughtfully improved room can change the way a household experiences each day. The grant is designed to help qualifying new homeowners create more comfortable, functional spaces for their own lives to unfold, while easing the financial burden that can put those improvements out of reach. In doing so, we hope to bring CJT’s spirit of generosity into the places where families build their lives.

Each April, alongside our strategic partners, we continue that commitment through the grant awarding process. It is our way of paying it forward — bringing craftsmanship and community together so that CJT’s legacy becomes part of another family’s next chapter.

Awarded every April

Your home. A new possibility.

Anyone may apply. The program is designed for new homeowners whose circumstances and proposed improvements meet HPC’s grant criteria. Applications are reviewed by High Pace Construction, with the awarding process taking place every April in conjunction with our strategic partners.

Submitting an application does not guarantee eligibility, an award, or a particular level of assistance. HPC will confirm applicable criteria, available support, and any project-specific terms during review.

Minimum eligibility & award review

A helping hand for new homeowners.

Minimum qualifying criteria

  • You purchased your home within the 12 months before submitting your application.
  • Your combined annual household income is $125,000 or less.
  • The homeowner must be able to verify property ownership, the purchase date, and household income before an award is confirmed.
  • Applications must be accurate and submitted by the homeowner or someone authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Proposed improvements must be feasible, with required permissions and any applicable permits in place before work begins.

These are minimum qualifying criteria, not the only considerations weighed during grant award review. Meeting them does not guarantee selection or an award. Anyone may submit an application for review, and a first-time home purchase is not required.

What else we consider

High Pace Construction reviews the application as a whole, alongside strategic partners involved in the program. Award decisions also consider:

  • Household circumstances, demonstrated need, and the financial burden of the proposed improvements.
  • The difference the project would make to everyday comfort, functionality, safety, or accessibility.
  • The current condition of the space and the importance of the improvements requested.
  • Project scope, estimated cost, practical feasibility, and HPC’s ability to perform the work.
  • Planning readiness, necessary approvals, and a realistic schedule for completing the work.
  • Other grants or assistance available and any contribution the applicant identifies; no fixed contribution is required to apply.
  • Available grant resources and strategic-partner support during the award cycle.

Any awarded support and project obligations will be set out in writing before work begins. Please do not upload or include financial records in this initial application. Opting in to a discounted-services offer does not influence grant consideration.

Another way to move your project forward

HPC reserves the right to offer services at a discounted rate to applicants who are not awarded a grant. Any offer is separate from the grant, subject to project scope and availability, and requires a separate written agreement. There is no obligation to purchase services, and opting in does not influence grant consideration.

Applications are stored privately for HPC’s review, not displayed publicly. Only share information relevant to your project and household circumstances.
